American Identity Crisis: Fox 'News' Flag-Waving, Bible-Toting Charade, My Mother & Apple Pie

Murdoch's Manipulative Mass Media Personalities Use the American Flag & the Christian Bible as 'Patriotic' & 'Religious' Sales Props for their Goebbels-like Fox 'News' & Propaganda

Real Patriots & Real Christians Don't Cheapen their Cultural & Religious Symbols by Using Them to Legitimize Dishonesty & Deception

Well, the fireworks are over, and the 4th of July 2021 has come and nearly gone, but the crisis of American identify lingers on. As I sat watching the ifreworks, enjoying the quiet and not-so-quiet splendor of the American people - celebrating yet another year of the democratic republic of, for and by the People - passed, I pondered on what lies ahead and what has been left behind.

 

My Deceased Mother was a Christian and a Native Born American, Who Didn't Wear Her Christianity nor Her Patriotism on Her Sleeve, but Rather Internalized the Christian Code of Conduct and American Ideals in Her Actions

My Mother died a few years ago at the age of 90. She lived a good life, and a long life, and few - if any - would ever even think to accuse her of not being a good mother, a good wife as well as a good Christian and a good American. She was a very humble woman, who at one point, after my father had died, told me that it took her a long time to find her own voice. I reckon, my father, who was a newspaperman, a college professor and a bit of a salesman, took up most of that space while he was alive. Meanwhile, my mother tended to her eight children, her love of music [she played the piano and harpsichord] and literature.

 

After my Father died, I found out that my Mother had attended mass nearly daily, until late in life. Eventually she ceased going to mass daily, and in time ceased attending even weekly, as her health began to intervene. And while she was a pretty religious woman, she didn't impose her beliefs on us kids, but was always ready to engage with us in any conversation about how to conduct onesself, ethics and religion. She was a bit of a political enthusiast as well, in a manner not unlike how some of the neighbors were Green Bay Packer fans. She watched political events and campaigners closely, and had opinions which she didn't keep to herself.

But she rarely wore the symbols of either of these two great cultural instititutions [church and state] - representing her cultural identity - on her sleeve, because she didn't have to. Those who knew her and those who met her, would soon learn who she was, if they engaged her in conversation. And again, as with her kids, she didn't impose her beliefs on those around her, even though she was always ready to discuss and defend her beliefs in a lively and inquisitive conversation.

And over time, my Mother's beliefs, as well as those of her children, evolved, as new information came in.

Australian Born Billionaire Keith R. Murdoch's Propagandists, Appear Daily, to Lay Claim to American Patriotism and Christianity - Not Because He or They are a Model of Either - But Seemingly to Ingratiate Themselves with Those They Seek to Manipulate, in Order to Enrich Themselves

So naturally it offends me when I see the hucksters of Fox 'News' & Propaganda, use the American Flag and the Christian Bible to endear themselves with those they seek to manipulate, in pursuit of owner Murdoch's selfish, self-enriching and power-hungry goals.

Rupert Murdoch and the propagandists who work for him strike me as the Biblical Philistines or money changers in the Temple. Those who would use the house of democracy and the word of the Christian God, to enable their propaganda profits and payola, at the expense of the public by claiming they're the true patriots and they are the true Christians. Their serpent-like narratives seem hellbent on undermining our democratic institutions, and the code of conduct as laid out in the Bible, by seducing their audiences with slick, modern Goebbels-like deceits, that appear far short of presenting all of the key facts in a fair and balanced manner. I think of Herr Murdoch as the Goebbels 2021 propaganda upgrade.

But my message over this national holiday is that beware of the demagogues and charlatans - oftentimes depicted as the villains in the old American westerns - who would mislead the public with their deceptive self promotion, in order to enrich themselves by exploiting their audiences.

As you can see in the photos, Tucker Carlson, Jeanine Pirro, Sean Hannity & Ainsley Earhardt use the flag and the Bible as sales / theatrical props to promote themselves and their books. This is similar to how Donald Trump used both the flag and the Bible to promote himself in the summer campaign of 2020 in Washington, D.C..

 

If these propagandists really believed in the U.S. Constitution, would they be working for a deceitful TV network, owned by a seemingly corrupt Australian born billionaire? Would they be contributors to the TV network that seems to undermine our national instititutions [stop the steal?] and fails to promote Christian ideals like "love thy neighbor as thyself" [don't minorities and immigrants count?]? Or are these Fox Fake News mouthpieces doing it because it's good for Murdoch's Fox 'News' ratings, and Murdoch in turn fills their pockets with millions of dollars of propaganda payola? These hucksters receive millions in exchange for seeming to sell out their fellow Americans and fellow Christians with dishonest or misleading 'news' reports, while Rupert Murdoch rakes in the cash from what seem quid pro quo deals with powerful politicians.

This is America, and it's still a free country, so you get to decide whether to patronize them with your clicker ... or not.

 

By the way, my Mother preferred cherry over apple pie, which was a detail I regretably paid heed to, far too late in her life.
