NYC Weather 4th of July Week as of 7.3.2024. The temperature highs will be in the mid 80's all week, while the temperature lows will start the week in the mid 60's, gradually rising to the mid 70's by Friday. Winds will be about 5 mph all week, except on Wednesday when they kick up to about 10 mph. The humidity will be a comfortable 40% - 60% on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, rising to 65% - 75% on Thursday and Friday.
There's a 40% chance of about a quarter inch of rain between the hours of 5 - 9 pm, dropping to 30% at that time, and staying there through most of Friday. No rain is currently forecast until late Thursday night [11 pm] and Friday, until late Friday evening.
NYC Weather Update for the Week Ahead as of 6.23.24 for the Fireworks Days [Wednesday, Thursday & Friday]. The temperature highs will be in the low 90's on Wednesday, descending to the mid 80's on Thursday, and down to the high 70's on Friday. The temperture lows will fall from the low 70's on Wednesday to the mid 60's on Thursday and Friday. The winds will range from 5 - 10 mph on all three days, descending from the high to the low of that range in tandem with the temperatures. The humidity will also fall from a high of about 80% on Wednesday, to 60% on Thursday, and then begin swinging back up on Friday to 80%, again. There's a 60% chance of about a half inch of rain on Wednesday, after 6 pm, but otherwise dry for these three fireworks days.
Air Quality. Last year [2023] we experienced some unhealthy air conditions stemming from the Canadian forest fires, caused by climate change, which is caused by carbon emissions from gas guzzling autos, power plants & other carbon powered and emitting machinery. 1. Van Cortlandt Park Fireworks in the Bronx NYC - Tuesday, 6/11/24 beginning at 9.30 pm
Description. The NY Philharmonic concert begins at 8 pm. The fireworks follow at between 9 and 9.30 pm. All in Van Cortlandt Park at the South Parade Ground, which is located in the southwest corner of Van Cortlandt Park. Via public transit this is located at about 251st Street, along Broadway / the west side of the park, which is north of the Van Cortlandt (#1) subway station which is at about 242nd Street.

2. Independence Day Fireworks at Orchard Beach Bronx on Thursday, 6/27/24
Description. On Thursday, June 27th from 6 - 10 pm [main performance / fireworks runs from 7 pm to 9.30 pm] there is an Independence Day celebration at Orchard Beach in Pelham Bay Park. The event generally begins with a concert and a few guest speakers, and just after 9 pm [usually a bit earlier than the other fireworks] the fireworks display begins along the beach. The event is free, but parking is $8 for a car and $13 for a larger or commercial vehicle. The event is organized by the Bronx Borough President Office in tandem with NYC Parks.

3. Astoria Park July 4th Fireworks on Thursday 6/27/23 - Viewable from the Bronx in Mott Haven, Hunts Point & Randall's Island
The Astoria Park Fireworks will happen on Thursday, June 29th. The festivities begin at 7.30 pm and the fireworks usually go off around dusk which is about 9.30 pm.
The best viewing locations in NYC Parks from the Bronx are: 1) Randall's Island, 2) from St. Mary's Park in Mott Haven at St. Ann's Avenue at 149th Street [go to the top of the park hills] or 3) Barretto Point Park which is at Tiffany Street and Viele Avenue on the southwest end of Hunts Point.
This fireworks display is also put together by the Grucci Brothers, the same fireworks company doing the Macy's 4th of July fireworks along the East River on July 4th, in NYC.
The Central Astoria Development Coalition sponsors the annual fireworks display in Astoria Park and the Queens Symphony Orchestra warms up the crowd beginning around 7.30 pm by playing classical music from the 19th & 20th centuries on a stage overlooking the East River in front of the great lawn of Astoria Park [between the pool and Hellgate Bridge].

4. Macy's July 4th Fireworks along the Hudson River Pretty Well Eliminates the Bronx as Much of a Viewing Location
The Macy's 4th of July fireworks will be shown along the Hudson River this year. They were shown along the East River in 2014 for the first time since 2008, and have remained on the East River until this year [2024]. Mayor de Blasio had lobbied the change, which spanned ten years. As previously mentioned, the Grucci Brothers will be doing the Macy's 4th of July fireworks in NYC, which they've been doing for decades.
Recent History of Macy's Fireworks Locations
In 2009 the Macy's 4th of July fireworks were moved to the Hudson River on Manhattan's west side. We were informed they'd moved it to the Hudson River to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's discovery of the river. The Macys 4th of July fireworks display remained there until July 4th 2014, when the Macy's 4th of July fireworks returned to the East River, where it has remained ever since.
Use the links below to find viewing locations in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn for the Macy's 4th of July fireworks show. But be advised the locations in Brooklyn and Queens are about four miles away from the barges - clear across Manhattan's skyline - so unless you're on a high rooftop, the show isn't likely to thrill.
5. Coop City Independence Day Fireworks in the Bronx - DISCONTINUED
Description. There used to be a 4th of July fireworks in the Bronx which was held at Little League Field in Co-op City in the Bronx. But it hasn't happened since prior to the pandemic and does not appear to be returning.

II. NYC Fireworks July 4th, 2024 - Brooklyn NYC
1. Fireworks & Concert in Prospect Park - Friday, 6/14/24
Description. Concert by the NY Philharmonic beginning at 8 pm, followed by 9.30 pm fireworks in the Long Meadow Ball Fields in Prospect Park Brooklyn. The Long Meadow Ball Fields are located by either walking straight into the park along 12th or 13th Street [it's a south easterly trajectory] or by walking straight into the park along 10th or 11th Avenues [it's a north easterly trajectory]. Where those two trajectories intersect is the Prospect Park Ball Fields.

2. Fort Hamilton Independence Day Celebration - Friday, 6/28/24
Description. Friday, June 16, 2023 opening at 4.30 pm - Fort Hamilton is hosting an Independence Day Celebration that includes food trucks, vendors and a fireworks display on the lawn of the military base adjacent to the Bay Ridge neighborhood on Brooklyn. Fireworks and entertainment generally run from about 6 to 10 pm. As this is on a still active U.S. military base at 404 Sterling Drive in Brooklyn, non-military personnel must register in advance [generally by about 3 weeks prior] to attend. Admission is $5 for non DoD [Department of Defense] members.

3. Coney Island July 4th Fireworks in Brooklyn NYC 2024 & Coney Island Summer Friday Nights Fireworks in Brooklyn NYC
Friday, June 14, 2024, Coney Island will launch the first of its weekly Friday evening fireworks shows of the summer, beginning at 9.30 pm along the Riegelmann Boardwalk at West 12th Street on Coney Island in Brooklyn. The Coney Island fireworks are always held off the beach, generally in the area of the Steeplechase tower in Steeplechase Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn. These are FREE events, and this also includes Thursday, July 4th.
Thursday, July 4th, 2024 there will be fireworks at Coney Island. The fireworks used to begin shortly after the end of the Macy's 4th of July fireworks on the East River, which was generally a bit before 10 pm. But since the Macy's fireworks are being held on the Hudson River this year, the Coney Island fireworks are likely to begin around dusk which creeps in between 9 and 9.30 pm.
Best Viewing Locations & Times. The Coney Island fireworks are staged along the Riegelmann Boardwalk at West 12th - West 15th Streets on Coney Island in Brooklyn. The Coney Island fireworks are always held off the beach, and the street coordinates above are generally in the area of the Steeplechase tower in Steeplechase Park [Luna Amusement] on Coney Island in Brooklyn.

4. Macy's July 4th Fireworks on the Hudson River - Best Viewing Locations in Brooklyn NYC 2024
Macy's July 4th Fireworks 2024 along the Hudson River Provides Remote Viewing from Queens & Brooklyn Tall Buildings and Hotel Rooftops
Description. The Macy's 4th of July fireworks will be shown along the Hudson River this year, for the first time since 2013. At that time Macy's had presented the fireworks display on the Hudson from 2008 - 2013, before moving back to the East River in 2014, where they've been shown until this year [2024]. The Grucci Brothers will be doing the Macy's 4th of July fireworks in NYC again, which they've been doing for decades, and possibly since the inception of the event in 1976.
Best Viewing Locations For Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Brooklyn 2024
Generally Time / Location Prep. The fireworks are expected to begin about 9.25 - 9.35 pm. Folks planning to view them from the west side of Manhattan will need time to get into position no later than sometime in the afternoon. It's also recommended that you forego the lawn chairs and other extra baggage to the extent you can, especially the later you move into position, as this will encumber you getting past the NYPD lines and through the crowd.
Changes for LIC, Williamsburg & Greenpoint. This year, unlike the recent past, it's not likely that blocks along the East River within the LIC, Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods will be cordoned off by the police because the fireworks are on the Hudson - not the East - river this year. In the past, this effort began around 3 to 4 pm in the afternoon and tightened up fairly quickly as the crowds grew.
Macy's Fireworks 2024 Barge Locations. While you can see the guesstimated 2024 barge locations on the map below [2nd map down], you get a better view of the optimal viewing locations along the East River shoreline in Queens and Brooklyn on the map immediately below.
4th Of July Fireworks in Brooklyn 2024 - Barge Locations / Local Viewing Places
2024 Barge Positions have been released. The barges will be positioned in the Hudson River between 14th Street in the West Village to about 34th Street in Midtown on the west side of Manhattan.
The roughly equivalent latitudes on the Brooklyn & Queens side runs along the East River from the Anable Basin in Long Island City Queens to just south of Newtown Creek / the Newtown Barge Playground in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
Every year the positioning of the barges and the number of them is designed to maximize the viewing options for an audience estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands. The show will be more easily viewable from the shores of the Hudson on the west side of Manhattan. Best Brooklyn Neighborhoods for Viewing Macy's July 4th Fireworks in Brooklyn NYC

LIC Queens & Greenpoint & Williamsburg Brooklyn. Unlike prior years, the 4th of July fireworks viewing locations in Queens and Brooklyn along the East River are less likely to fill quickly because those Macy's 4th of July fireworks viewing locations are located about four miles away from where the fireworks are being launched, and you will definitely feel quite removed from the action.
When the fireworks were on the East River, many folks headed to find their spot sometime in the morning or by midday. And somewhere between early and late afternoon, the police lines begin to close around these areas, for crowd control purposes. But this year none of that is likely to happen and Gantry State Park and Hunters Point Park in Queens and the Newtown Creek Barge Park in Brooklyn, could be [unconfirmed] ok 'remote' viewing locations of the fireworks show.

What & What NOT to bring along. You'll also want to bring along sun screen, water and be careful not to bring along too much so you can move around. This year [2023] we have been informed that lawn chairs, blankets, and backpacks / containers / other large bags will not be permitted past the barricades into the public viewing locations for security purposes. The Best Viewing Times & Places for July 4th Fireworks in Queens NYC.
The Astoria Park fireworks show is along the East River, just across from Manhattan, and easily viewable from Carl Schurz Park on the Upper East Side Park in Manhattan, as well as Randall's Island, which Manhattan cyclists and pedestrians may reach via a walking bridge located at Playground 103, which is at 102nd Street and the FDR.
The best viewing location is from the Great Lawn in Astoria Park in Queens, but be advised that each year these fireworks become more popular, so it's best to get there a little early. The Thursday night Astoria Park fireworks in Queens provides a pastorial view of the Upper East Side of Manhattan from Astoria Park, right alongside the East River.
A bit of History. This is the 40th Astoria Park fireworks display, and it will be put together by the Grucci Brothers, the same fireworks company doing the Macy's 4th of July fireworks along the Hudson River in NYC on July 4th.

Manhattan July 4th Fireworks Number of Barges & Barge Locations along the Hudson River. We will try to update this map - if need be - when these 2024 specifics are released. We're estimating four barges, although they could possibly use five.
Recent Macy's July 4th Fireworks Barges History. Since 2014 the Macy's 4th of July fireworks had been lit upon the East River within viewing range of all five boroughs [although a quite a distance from the south Bronx and northern tip of Staten Island]. In recent years there were five barges, up from four barges during the mid 20xx teens. The number of barges varies from year to year - generally between four and five - although in recent years, along the East River, the number had remained a constant five, and they have moved the barges a bit further north up the East River. But this year all that has changed as the Macy's July 4th fireworks returns to the Hudson River.

The Best Viewing Times for Manhattan July 4th Fireworks NYC. The best places along the Hudson River will likely fill quickly on July 4th, with many folks heading to find their spot in sometime in the morning or during the earlier part of the afternoon. Somewhere around 3 or 4 pm the NYPD will cordone off access to the most popular areas, for crowd control purposes. The fireworks generally begin around dusk, when it begins to get dark, which is generally between 9.15 - 9.30 pm.

Best Viewing Locations for Manhattan July 4th Fireworks NYC - Generally. We believe the best viewing locations will generally be located along the Hudson River Greenway between 14th Street and 34th Street, but good viewing locations should also be available along the Hudson as far north as 59th Street and as far south as Houston - all along the Hudson River on the west side of Manhattan. So we're going to list the comfortable park areas - first the front row seats between 14th and 34th - and then the balcony seats between 34th and 59th, and between Houston and 14th Streets. All of these are located along the Hudson River on the west side of Manhattan.

Little Island and Pier 54 between 12th and 14th Streets, the 14th Street Park between 14th and 15th Streets [on the east side of the highway, off the Hudson River], Pier 57 which is home to City Winery and has a rooftop park between 15th & 16th Streets, Chelsea Piers between 17th and 22nd Streets, Piers 62 - 64 and Chelsea Waterside between 22nd & 24th Streets, and the Greenway & Pier 66 between 24th and 34th Streets. - Best Viewing Locations for Manhattan July 4th Fireworks NYC - Balcony Seats North. Pier 76 and 78 between 34th and 40th Streets, Hudson Yard and Bella Azbug Park are off the Hudson between 30th and 34th Streets, Piers 81, 83 & 84 Hudson River Park between 40th and 45th Streets, Pier 86 at 46th Street which is the Intrepid Museum, Piers 88 - 94 between 48th and 54th Streets are mostly parking lots and not sure what to expect, the Dewitt Clinton Park between 53rd and 54th Streets is off the Hudson, while Dewitt Clinton Cove at 55th Street is on the Hudson, and Riverside Park begins at 59th Street which may also provide a fair view.
- Best Viewing Locations for Manhattan July 4th Fireworks NYC - Balcony Seats South. The Gansevoort Penninsula between Washington [Little West 13th] and Gansevoort Streets, Pier 51 at Jane Street, Pier 45 & 46 between 10th & Perry Streets, and Pier 40 at Hudson & Clarkson Streets.
What & What NOT to bring along. You'll also want to bring along sun screen, water and be careful not to bring along too much baggage so that you can reasonable or easily move around. Last year, and while this is unconfirmed, I believe it holds true for this year [2024], the NYPD won't allow backpacks, large bags, coolers, umbrellas or similar items past the NYPD barricades.

Description. This Independence Day celebration on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 begins at 6 pm with musical entertainment and food trucks vending that runs until about 9 pm. Then the fireworks begin at 9.15 pm. The fireworks display is managed by the Grucci Brothers which also does the Macy's 4th of July fireworks. Parking and admittance opens at 5 pm.

Best Queens Neighborhoods for Viewing Macy's July 4th Fireworks in Queens NYC

LIC Queens & Greenpoint & Williamsburg Brooklyn. Unlike prior years, the 4th of July fireworks viewing locations in Queens and Brooklyn along the East River are less likely to fill quickly because those Macy's 4th of July fireworks viewing locations are located about four miles away from where the fireworks are being launched, and you will definitely feel quite removed from the action.
When the fireworks were on the East River, many folks headed to find their spot sometime in the morning or by midday. And somewhere between early and late afternoon, the police lines begin to close around these areas, for crowd control purposes. But this year none of that is likely to happen and Gantry State Park and Hunters Point Park in Queens and the Newtown Creek Barge Park in Brooklyn, could be [unconfirmed] ok 'remote' viewing locations of the fireworks show.
Roosevelt Island. Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island may also be an option, but the UES high rises, in tandem with the 4 - 5 miles distance from the fireworks barges, are likely to yield a very distant show. And sometimes they slow / control the traffic crossing to the island from Queens, so check their website - https://rioc.ny.gov/

You'll also want to bring along sun screen, water and be careful not to bring along too much so you can move around. This year [2023] we have been informed that lawn chairs, blankets, and backpacks / containers / other large bags will not be permitted past the barricades into the public viewing locations for security purposes. V. NYC Fireworks July 4th 2024 - Staten Island NYC
1. Fireworks at Staten Island Ferry Hawks games including 4th of July 2024
Description. Staten Island Ferry Hawks will be hosting nine fireworks displays from May 4 - September 7, 2024 at SIUH Community Park at 75 Richmond Terrace which is a short walk from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George. The game time is 6.30 pm and the fireworks start at dusk / after the ball game.

2. NY Philharmonic Free Indoor Concert - Sunday, 6/16/24

3. Fort Hamilton Independence Day Celebration - Friday, 6/28/24
Description. Friday, June 16, 2023 opening at 4.30 pm - Fort Hamilton is hosting an Independence Day Celebration that includes food trucks, vendors and a fireworks display on the lawn of the military base adjacent to the Bay Ridge neighborhood on Brooklyn. Fireworks and entertainment generally run from about 6 to 10 pm. As this is on a still active U.S. military base at 404 Sterling Drive in Brooklyn, non-military personnel must register in advance [generally by about 3 weeks prior] to attend. Admission is $5 for non DoD [Department of Defense] members.

4. Independence Day Celebration in Historic Richmond Town SI 2024
Thursday July 4, 2024 from 10 am to 4 pm - Historic Richmond Town will be celebrating Independence Day. George Washington & Benjamin Franklin and others host an Independence celebration in an historic setting with old fashioned Americana events and projects. Activities include fireworks, food, muskets and meeting artisans, tradesmen, tin makers, carpenters, broom and basket makers and visiting a native American encampment. Tickets are $16 .

5. Fireworks at Perth Amboy in the Raritan Bay which is Viewable from Staten Island 2024
Description. Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 3 pm to 10 pm - the Perth Amboy Festival & Fireworks - over the Raritan Bay. Folks on the southern end of Staten Island, can enjoy the show from the Conference House park in Tottenville. The fireworks generally begin between 9 and 9.30 pm.

OLD _ NOTE YEAR / DATE _ Description. Monday, July 3, 2023 beginning at 7 pm there's a 4th of July concert, followed by a July 4th fireworks show, at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk and Beach on the northeast shore of Staten Island. To the north is South Beach and the Arrochar neighborhood and to the south is Midland Beach and the neighborhood by the same name. This is near the Staten Island University Hospital in Dongan Hills. Both the concert and the fireworks are FREE.

7. Travis Town's 114th 4th of July Parade 2024 & Celebration on Staten Island NYC
Thursday, July 4th, 2024, the town of Travis hosts a 4th of July parade and celebration that harks back to a simpler time. The streets into the town close at 11.15 am. At 12 noon there's a ceremony at Independence Park at Victory Blvd and Glenn Street honoring some of the parade celebrities. The parade kicks off at 12.30 pm. There's an entertainment show place at 141 East Service Road. The parade route is triangular - West on Victory Boulevard to Glen Street; to Cannon Avenue; South on Victory Boulevard back to 141 East Service Road where the entertainment is. The celebration ends around 2.30 pm.

8. Empire Outlets July 4th Fireworks & Celebration on Staten Island NYC
Thursday, July 4, 2024 from 3 to 9 pm - 4th of July Block Party - at the Empire Outlets Mall which is located adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island. There are carnival games, face painting, balloons, a cannoli eating contest, photos and you're within easy viewing of the Staten Island Ferry Hawks fireworks display which begins at dusk or after the game.

9. Coney Island July 4th Fireworks 2024 & Coney Island Summer Friday Nights Fireworks 2024 - Remote Viewing from Staten Island
Friday, June 14, 2024, Coney Island will launch the first of its weekly Friday evening fireworks shows of the summer, beginning at 9.30 pm along the Riegelmann Boardwalk at West 12th Street on Coney Island in Brooklyn. The Coney Island fireworks are always held off the beach, generally in the area of the Steeplechase tower in Steeplechase Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn. These are FREE events, and this also includes Thursday, July 4th.
Thursday, July 4th, 2024 there will be fireworks at Coney Island. The fireworks used to begin shortly after the end of the Macy's 4th of July fireworks on the East River, which was generally a bit before 10 pm. But since the Macy's fireworks are being held on the Hudson River this year, the Coney Island fireworks are likely to begin around dusk which creeps in between 9 and 9.30 pm.
Best Viewing Locations from Staten Island. All of these Coney Island fireworks displays should be distantly viewable from the Roosevelt Boardwalk [3 - 5 miles] down to Great Kills Beach [4 - 7 miles] on Staten Island. Essentially this encompasses the area between Fort Wadsworth and Great Kills, which encompasses the South Beach and Midland Beach neighborhoods, among others. The Lighthouse Point neighborhood, owing to its altitude [highest area in NYC], might also have a fair, but distant, view.

10. Viewing Macy's July 4th Fireworks 2024 from Staten Island NYC
Macy's July 4th Fireworks 2024 along the Hudson River Provides Remote Viewing from Northern Staten Island
Description. The Macy's 4th of July fireworks will be shown along the Hudson River this year, for the first time since 2013. At that time Macy's had presented the fireworks display on the Hudson from 2008 - 2013, before moving back to the East River in 2014, where they've been shown until this year [2024]. The Grucci Brothers will be doing the Macy's 4th of July fireworks in NYC again, which they've been doing for decades, and possibly since the inception of the event in 1976.
Best Viewing Locations For Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Staten Island 2024
Generally Time / Location Prep. The fireworks are expected to begin about 9.25 - 9.35 pm.
To view the Macy's fireworks from Manhattan - see map at right. The distance from the northern tip of Staten Island to the Macy's July 4th fireworks launch is between 7 and 9 miles, so it's quite far away, but it's generally unobstructed as it is over water.
Folks planning to view them from the west side of Manhattan will need time to get into position no later than sometime in the afternoon. It's also recommended that viewers forego the lawn chairs and other extra baggage to the extent they can, especially the later they move into position, as this will encumber getting past the NYPD lines and through the crowd. 11. Tottenville Independence Day Celebrations at the Conference House Staten Island 2024
Sunday, July 7, 2024 beginning at 4 pm, there's a free concert being performed by the Staten Island Philharmonic featuring "All American Patriotic Music" at the Conference House at 7455 Hylan Blvd in Tottenville. It's a good old fashioned Americana afternoon.
The maps at right shows that under the Outer Borough Crossing Bridge located at the top of the image, the Conference House is located due south of and along the right or eastern shore of the Arthur Kill Watershed [body of water that separates NJ and SI]. Across the water from the Conference House, is Perth Amboy, which is less than a half mile away.
