Oped Debate about the City of Yes
Mayor Adams vs a Couple of Critics of the Proposal
Public Comment Period Ends Monday, July 22, 2024
There's a debate heating up over Mayor Adams push to change NYC's zoning laws. The Mayor asserts the changes will encourage the growth of affordable housing, while critics believe the zoning changes that Adams has proposed, will usurp much of neighborhoods ability to have a say in what is built in their communities by aggressive international and local developers. Critics also mention that the legislation appears to include significant billionaire and real estate developer giveaways and that Adams' proposed zoning law changes provide no guarantees that any affordable housing will be built at all, because of the proposal. Lastly, the City of Yes concentrates the power it proposes to be taken from the people, into the hands of the Mayor's Office, which by its very nature would significantly reduce transparency and visibility currently available to the people who live, work and pay taxes here, regarding what's being developed and erected in NYC neighborhoods by billionaires, real estate developers and international investors.
Click this link to view generally well written OpEds on both sides of the debate. In them, you'll also be able to find out how you can make your voice heard in the debate, before the period for public comment closes on Monday, July 22nd, 2024.
Remember, a government by, for and of the people, is just a meaningless phrase, if the people (yes that means you) don't pay attention to what's going on in their government and participate in it by getting involved. It's very, very easy to lose rights and privileges, as we saw by the recent court invalidation of Roe v. Wade. And it's very, very hard to win them back. China and Russia are good examples of places where, after millenia, the people have still not won back respect by, for and from their governments.

Wednesday, 7.24.24, D.C. Protest of Netanyahu Duping American - not Israeli - Taxpayers into Funding the Palestinian Kristallnacht, in addition to Israeli Imperialism & Expansionism
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 8 am to 8 pm, there's a protest against alleged War Criminal Benjamin Netanyahu at the Capitol in in Washington, D.C.
The Jewish American families whose loved ones are still being held captive by the Hamas terrorists are among those who will be protesting Netanyahu's speech to a joint session of Congress. They are protesting Netanyahu's presence, because Netanyahu has repeatedly refused to accept any peace deal which would free the hostages. Netanyahu is trying to get some of the released Israeli hostages to come to support him [create confusion], while the families of those still in captivity are pleading with the freed American hostage to stay away or join them.
An Israeli American group called Unxeptable will also be there protesting Netanyahu's visit because they view him as a fascist threat to Israeli democracy - https://www.facebook.com/UnXeptable. They won't be alone. See one of the Netanyahu welcoming committee posters at right.
Many congressmen and women, along with Senator Bernie Sanders (and possibly other senators), will not be attending the speech. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was not invited by President Biden, but rather primarily by congressional Republicans - who insiders believe are using Netanyahu to divide Democrats in the lead up to the 2024 election. Netanyahu had participated in this same sort of election interference effort back in 2016, at which time he indicated he favored Donald Trump. An estimatd 58 Democrats skipped his speech that year, and it is believed the number could go much higher this year, when he arrives at the Capitol next week.
Here's a story about Netanyahu's apparent use of American funding and weapons for Israeli imperialism, as well as what seems to be the Palestinian Kristallnacht. In the report we explore how Netanyahu avoids taxing billionaire Israelis for his wars, because - with the help of the faulty reporting by American corporate mass media - he has been able to successfully convince American taxpayers to fund them instead. Stay tuned.

March 22, 2024 / NYC Neighborhoods / NYC Things To Do / Gotham Buzz NYC.
We're only a few days away from St. Patrick's Day 2024. Four years ago we were all waking up to a new reality ... the CoVid pandemic. So back then the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade in Manhattan was hugely scaled down ... and many in the outer boroughs were cancelled. Last year they all returned in spades.
Restaurants and bars have long settled back into mostly normal and many have kept the outdoor dining. The current weather forecast [as of 3/11/24] for St. Patrick's Day weekend calls for daytime temperatures in the 50's with a small possibility of precipitation on Sunday.
We've compiled a set of Irish pubs, bars and restaurants in each borough for you to peruse, if you're contemplating going out before or after the parades that span the entire month. Please remember, that like New Years Eve, all the amateur drinkers come out, many of whom are not Irish, so to all, please be respectful of others.
That said, enjoy yourself, drink responsibly, so that the day after your St. Patricks Day celebration is also a good one .
