How the One Responsible for Israeli Security on October 7th, 2023, Appears to also be the One who Benefitted the Most from its Failure
Israeli Security Failure on October 7, 2023 & the German Reichstag Fire of 1933.
Nobody benefitted more from the Israel Defense Force failure on October 7, 2023 than Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli protesters who opposed his fascist government policies were silenced. The Netanyahu corruption proceedings in the Israeli courts seemed to go on hiatus. Over 108 journalists, which includes 2 Israeli and 3 Lebaneses journalists, were killed as of June 22, 2024 according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. The terror attack gave Netanyahu a pretext to create a 'unity government' out of one that was very divided. It gave Netanyahu a pretext to temporarily 'reconcile' with the U.S. over policy differences. It gave Netanyahu not only an excuse to continue his fascist / almost Nazi-like policies of ethnic cleansing the Palestinians out of their land, but something of a license to expand and accelerate it. And it allowed Netanyahu to continue to bilk American taxpayers to fund and weaponize his ethnic cleansing and mass murder of Palestinians.
Who was in control of the Israeli Defense Forces when the huge, inexcusable, security failure occurred on October 7, 2023? None other than Benjamin Netanyahu. This is akin to the German Reichstag Fire in 1933, which enabled Hitler to seize more power. Like Adolph, Benjamin promised an investigation, and likely what we'll eventually see is a report on it, just like the report on the Reichstag Fire in 1933 - assuming Netanyahu remains in power. At right is a chart showing U.S. military aid to Israel from 1951 to 2023. In total U.S. taxpayers have given Israel the equivalent of over a quarter Trillion dollars in aid and munitions in today's dollars. You can see that aid spiked in the 1980's, when Israel helped the rogue members of the Reagan Administration break the U.S. arms embargo of Iran, by secretly and illegally trading U.S. weapons to the Iranians, in exchange for funds. The rogue members of the Reagan Administration then reportedly sent those funds to the Nicaraguan Contras, again in violation of U.S. laws. The most recent spike, shown at far right, came following the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack.
Wikipedia [NYT 12/8/1991] reported the following regarding the Iran Contra scandal during which Israel participated in breaking U.S. laws with rogue members of the Reagan Administration, "... investigations established that "Soon after taking office in 1981, the Reagan Administration secretly and abruptly changed United States policy." Secret Israeli arms sales and shipments to Iran began in that year, even as, in public, "the Reagan Administration" presented a different face, and "aggressively promoted a public campaign [...] to stop worldwide transfers of military goods to Iran". The New York Times explains: "Iran at that time was in dire need of arms and spare parts for its American-made arsenal to defend itself against Iraq, which had attacked it in September 1980", while "Israel [a US ally] was interested in keeping the war between Iran and Iraq going to ensure that these two potential enemies remained preoccupied with each other". Major General Avraham Tamir, a high-ranking Israeli Defense Ministry official in 1981, said there was an "oral agreement" to allow the sale of "spare parts" to Iran. ... A former "high-level" Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) official who saw reports of arms sales to Iran by Israel in the early 1980s estimated that the total was about $2 billion a year—but also said, "The degree to which it was sanctioned I don't know."... ".
Netanyahu's Israeli Military Forces are Killing Civilians in Gaza, at a Rate that is at Least Six Times Faster than Putin's Russian Military is Killing Civilians in Ukraine
Will Netanyahu's Murderous Rampage - Killing Civilians at a Pace that's 6x Faster than Putin's in Ukraine - Compensate for his Security Failure?
According to Wikipedia, as of 5/21/24 [in about 8 months] Netanyahu's Israeli military has reportedly killed more than 35,600 Palestinians, while Hamas has killed about 1,500 Israelis, including those killed in the Hamas attack on October 7th, 2023.
An estimated 52% of the Palestinians killed [18,512] were women and children. As a point of reference, also according to Wikipedia, as of 5/31/24 [in about 27 months], 11,100 civilians were killed by Putin's Russian military since the invasion of Ukraine began on February 22, 2022. So Netanyahu's regime has managed to kill over twice as many civilians in Gaza, in about a third the time, as Putin's Russians have killed civilians in Ukraine. I'm assuming that at least 3,688 of the [48%] 17,088 male Palestinian civilians killed, were non-combatants.

Netanyahu's Inhumane Use of the Israeli Military in Gaza, is Doing Collateral Damage to the Safety & Security of the Jewish Diaspora Living Outside of Israel
Netanyahu & the Israeli Militiary have single-handedly Ignited another Significant Uptick in Anti-Semitism in America & Around the World. Netanyahu's callous actions in Gaza, appear to have done more to re-ignite anti-semitism in America and around the world, than actions by any other human being or event that I can think of, during my adult life time.
The longer Netanyahu and the Israeli military continue their inhumanities and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, the more they will damage the international reputation not just of the Israelis, but also of the Jewish diaspora, who are not involved, and who live elsewhere around the world.
This same sort of international reputational damage was done to the German people in the 1930's & 1940's by Hitler and the Nazis, which also did collateral reputational damage to the German diaspora, including those living in this country, who not only had nothing to do with Hitler's atrocities, but in fact, ultimately fought on the American side of WWII to put an end to them.

A Growing Divide Between Moderate / Progressive Jewish Americans & Netanyahu & the Conservative Right Wing Israelis. In November of 2018, a White Supremacist murdered 11 Jews at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. The man reportedly decided to kill Jews because he believed they were helping illegal immigrants into the U.S.
The rabbi of the targeted Pittsburgh synagogue made a speech shortly after the massacre - where he blamed the inflammatory rhetoric promoting white nationalism by 'U.S. politicians' - for the massacre. The Rabbi Jeffrey Myers, of the Pittsburgh synagogue, told CNN [November 4, 2018 report] that he had personally delivered that message to Donald Trump, telling Trump that "... hateful speech leads to hateful actions ...". Generally most reports stated that Trump was not welcome by the Pittsburgh Jewish community until he renounced the hate filling his speeches, which included promotion of white nationalism and anti-immigration rhetoric, along with the vilification of Jewish philanthropist and political activist, George Soros.
Netanyahu's Manipulatively Brandishes Anti-Semitic Labeling, in an Attempt to Quell Criticism of Anything he and the Israeli Military do
Prominent Israelis Object to Netanyahu's Efforts to Equate Opposition to Israeli Government Actions [aka Benjamin Netanyahu's Actions] with Anti-Semitism. Benjamin Netanyahu and his conservative Israeli administration quickly jumped into theconversation to support Donald Trump, by using the massacre to promote their own agenda, claiming that anyone who opposes the Israeli government's inhumane actions is anti-semitic. He called it the new 'anti-semitism'. According to a November 21, 2018 report by Haaretz, an Israeli news outlet, dozens of prominent Israelis support the following statement, " ... According to a January 27, 2019 report in the Times of Israel [an Israeli news outlet], Netanyahu and his Israeli government have been cozying up to right wing governments and parties in Europe and America for a long time. The Jewish diaspora living in those nations, as well as in the U.S. have been suffering as a result. Right wing anti-semitic violence has been growing on the European Continent, as well as in the U.S., to which Netanyahu and his Israeli government have turned a blind eye.

Jewish American Leaders Speak Out Against Netanyahu's Actions. In addition to those killed tallied above, Netanyahu and the Israeli military have injured or maimed another 85,000 Palestinians, bringing the total killed over injured to about 125,000 and counting.

Haunting Parallels Between Hitler's and the Nazis' Actions Leading up to & During Kristallnacht vs Netanyahu's & Israelis' Actions Leading up to & During the Invasion of Gaza
Netanyahu and the Israeli military have also completely destroyed million(s) of homes and businesses in Gaza, in what appears to be the inhumane, if not genocidal, treatment of millions of Palestinian civilian men, women and children of all ages.
A number of Netanyahu's domestic policies and actions which preceded the Hamas terrorist attack, vis-a-vis the state sponsored expansion of Israeli settlements and the invasive, racist and discriminatory policing of Palestinians by Israeli law enforcement [and / or military], as well as the Israeli mititary's genocidal actions since then [indiscriminately mass murdering civilians and levelling their homes and businesses], share a number haunting parallels to what Hitler and the Nazis did to the Jews in Germany in the 1930's culminating with Kristallnacht.
The Israeli military actions share a lot of similarities with the Nazi's Kristallnacht on November 9, 1938, when the Nazis spent a day destroying and vandalizing Jewish businesses, homes, schools, synagogues and graveyards. An estimated 30,000 Jewish men were arrested, many of whom were sent to concentration camps, and later freed if they agreed to leave the country. An estimated 100,000 Jews fled the country after that.
Wikipedia describes Kristallnacht as follows,
" ... was a pogrom against Jews carried out by the Nazi Party's Sturmabteilung (SA) and Schutzstaffel (SS) paramilitary forces along with some participation from the Hitler Youth and German civilians throughout Nazi Germany on 9–10 November 1938. The German authorities looked on without intervening. The euphemistic name Kristallnacht comes from the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after the windows of Jewish-owned stores, buildings, and synagogues were smashed. The pretext for the attacks was the assassination of the German diplomat Ernst vom Rath by Herschel Grynszpan, a 17-year-old German-born Polish Jew living in Paris.
Jewish homes, hospitals and schools were ransacked as attackers demolished buildings with sledgehammers. Rioters destroyed 267 synagogues throughout Germany, Austria, and the Sudetenland. Over 7,000 Jewish businesses were damaged or destroyed, and 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and incarcerated in concentration camps. British historian Martin Gilbert wrote that no event in the history of German Jews between 1933 and 1945 was so widely reported as it was happening, and the accounts from foreign journalists working in Germany drew worldwide attention. The Times of London observed on 11 November 1938: "No foreign propagandist bent upon blackening Germany before the world could outdo the tale of burnings and beatings, of blackguardly assaults on defenceless and innocent people, which disgraced that country yesterday."
Estimates of fatalities caused by the attacks have varied. Early reports estimated that 91 Jews had been murdered. Modern analysis of German scholarly sources puts the figure much higher; when deaths from post-arrest maltreatment and subsequent suicides are included, the death toll reaches the hundreds, with Richard J. Evans estimating 638 deaths by suicide. Historians view Kristallnacht as a prelude to the Final Solution [the Holocaust] ... ".

One Hypothesis as to Why Netanyahu Favors Donald Trump for President
In Nazi Germany, shortly after Kristallnacht, WWII and the Holocaust followed.
To date the U.S. has dampened Netanyahu's apparent desire to expand the conflict into an all-out Middle Eastern War that includes Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Iran. But a Trump presidency might allow Netanyahu to to do just that, and obtain even more free funding from American taxpayers to carry it out his imperialist ambitions for Israel.
The photo at right shows a news report during the Trump presidency, where the former president supported Netanyahu's aggressive imperialist territorial grabs, including the illegal occupation of the oil fields discovered in the Syrian Golan Heights.
The possibility of a second Trump presidency could be the catalyst for an even bigger Israeli land grab in the Middle East by Netanyahu, funded by Trump writing checks underwritten by the American taxpayer. Perhaps that is why the Israelis appear to be backing Trump and the Republicans. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Netanyahu & Israel Bilk American Taxpayers - instead of Taxing Israelis - to Fund Their Inhumane Imperialist Wars
I say Israeli Imperialism because Netanyahu has been pursuing an Israeli expansionist plan for well over a decade now, which doesn't just include Gaza in the southwest, but also the Syrian Golan Heights in the north, where oil was recently discovered [2013]. The link is to a Google search showing how Netanyahu is using U.S. taxpayer funding and weapons to grab for more Syrian land, oil and power to enrich themselves. Among those Republicans who are in on the American tzxpayer funded, privatized public spending, enrichment scheme are Rupert Murdoch of Fox News, and former VP Dick Cheney, both of whom own shares in Genie Energy, which is a Golan Heights oil drilling company, operating in the illegally occupied [by Israel] Syrian Golan Heights.
Sadly, Netanyahu is using aid and munitions not only supplied by, but also funded and given by the American people / taxpayers. And Netanyahu and the Israeli Conservatives are able to do this without U.S. consent, because the U.S. federal government [all three branches] have not applied any conditions to the aid and weapons packages given to Israel.
Major U.S. Media Companies Continue to Fail to Fully Inform American Voters
Netanyahu and Israel take our money and our weapons, and is free to completely ignore our advice. They've been doing this for at least the past two and a half decades.
Nicholas Kristoff wrote what I consider a half witted OpEd piece in the NYT on 6/22/24, blaming Biden for Netanyahu's dismissal of U.S. concerns. I say half witted, because it was very short sighted, ignoring Netanyahu's and Israel's dismissal of U.S. concerns beginning shortly after the assassination of Liberal Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin in 1995. Benjamin Netanyahu became Prime Minister a year later, and has been governing or playing a major role in governing Israel, ever since.
Israel and Netanyahu have sought and received what today amounts to over $250,000,000,000 dollars in aid and weapons from the American people, since Israel's inception in May 14, 1948. It's worth noting that Israel's population is less than 10,000,000, or about a million more than the population of NYC.
Democrats Raise Objections to Netanyahu's Inhumane Actions, but thus far have either been Unwilling or Unable to Apply a Requisite Amount of Pressure to Stop Netanyahu & the Israeli Conservatives' Inhumane Actions ... Republican Complicity is Part of the Problem
In addition to President Biden, leading Jewish American leaders, such as Senator Bernie Sanders and Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, have spoken out against Netanyahu's seemingly genocidal military and domestic political actions.
Arrest warrants are being sought in the International Criminal Court, for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, for their alleged war crimes against humanity. The outcome of that effort is pending.
Netanyahu and Conservative Israelis are Meddling in U.S. Elections Again
Netanyahu's Interference in U.S. Elections? Netanyahu is expected to address Congress, primarily at the invitation of Congressional Republicans, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 in Washington, D.C..
This visit by Netanyahu is the second time within the past decade, that Netanyahu appears to be trying to interfere in U.S. presidential elections. The first time was in 2015 when Netanyahu appeared to be campaigning on behalf of Donald Trump in the 2016 election [note the date in the graphic at right]. Israel's announcement that the war [atrocities] in Gaza will go on until after the November 2024 presidential election, also appears to be manipulatively designed to favor Trump's presidential candidacy.
It seems obvious why Netanyahu favors Trump. Both men are fascists and both men have moved their conservative parties closer to authoritarianism and personalized power, where loyalty and who you know matters, and laws don't. Just like in the days of yore, when the royals got everything, while the masses were given just enough to keep working.

There was a movie in 1981, starring Sigourney Weaver, William Hurt and Christopher Plumber, entitled EYEWITNESS.
I think it has some relevancy here, as one of the main characters, Sigourney Weaver, is a Jewish American reporter who must choose between doing what is right or doing nothing by ignoring what is terribly wrong.
