Oktoberfest Begins Mid September in NYC and run thru October

The official / unofficial kick off to the month and a half of Oktoberfest events in NYC begins in Manhattan with the Steuben Parade. This report identifies a number of Oktoberfest events around NYC beginning mid September and running through the end of October.

The photo at right shows one of the floats in the Steuben Parade celebrating the consumption of bier, which in tandem with consumption of bratwurst, is an integral part of Oktoberest. One thing the photo doesn't show is the music, that also goes hand in hand with Oktoberfest.

Manhattan Oktoberfests MHTN NYC

• UES _ Saturday, September 16, 2023 - Steuben Day Parade & Oktoberfest NYC. The parade begins at 12 noon from 5th Avenue at 68th Street and marches up to 86th Street. Following the parade there's an Oktoberfest at the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park that begins at 1 pm and runs until 7 pm. Enter Central Park at 72nd St & 5th Avenue. Brooklyn Oktoberfests BK NYC

• Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4 to 9 pm, there's Oktoberfest at the Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn. You must pre-register and it costs $8 for civilians. For details see - https://hamilton.armymwr.com

• East Williamsburg _ Friday, September 29 - Sunday October 8, 2023 [excluding Monday & Tuesday 10/2 & 10/3] from 5 - 11 pm on Wednesday & Thursdays, until 10 pm Friday, two seatings on Saturday from 12 noon - 4.45 pm and from 5.15 - 10 pm; and on Sunday from 12 noon - 8 pm - Zum Schneider Fest. This is a traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest which for years had been held in Manhattan along the East River at 23rd Street. Last year the tent was erected adjacent to the 3 Dollar Bill bar and restaurant at 260 Meserole Street in Brooklyn. Tickets start at $15 and on up for groups, food and drinks. Queens Oktoberfests QNS NYC

• Saturday & Sunday, September 30 & October 1, 2023 from 12 noon to 12 midnight & 10 pm respectively - Oktoberfest at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria. The Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden is located at 29-19 24th Avenue [at 31st Street]. They usually offer a special menu, drink specials, giveaways and there's usually a pig roast in the garden, but not sure what's planned this year, because they haven't announced any specifics on their website. Not a street fair in Astoria, but an ethnic food & drink event.

• Sunnyside _ Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 12 noon to 5 pm - Sunnyside Gardens Park Oktoberfest - At Sunnyside Gardens Park at 48-21 39th Avenue. Arts, crafts, food, pumpkin patch & games open to public. St festivals in Sunnyside Queens NYC. Free, but registration is suggested at their website - https://sunnysidegardenspark.org/

• CANCELLED - Moved from 9/30/23 to Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 1 to 7 pm - Bronx Night Market in Fordham Plaza just south of the train station. A diversified food fest which on this day will have an Oktoberfest theme - Bronxtoberfest.

• 9.22.23 _ CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER _ Manor Heights _ Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 12 noon - 7 pm - The Rolling Thunder Oktoberfest celebration is being held at William H. Pouch Camp at 1285 Manor Road in the Greenbelt just south of Manor Heights. It was formerly held in Historic Richmond Town. There will be food, beer, rides, games, shopping and live entertainment. Admission is $10. Proceeds go to Veterans in Need and it's organized by Rolling Thunder and the Rotary Clubs of Staten Island. For details see - https://sioktoberfest.com/
