Sunrise 5.26 am. Sunset 8.23 pm. Daylight Savings Time. We're getting 15 hours & 5 minutes of daylight or five hours and 25 more minutes of sunlight than we were getting the weekend of the Winter Solstice, on December 21, 2024, which was the shortest day of last year [2024] at 9 hours and 15 minutes of daylight. Spring began Thursday, March 20, 2025, which is also the Spring Equinox, when the day is 12 hours long - half daylight and half dark. The Summer Solstice is coming June 20, 2025 which will be the longest day of this year.

The photo above or at right was taken a couple of weeks ago in Hells Kitchen, showing a number of air conditioning units geometrically protruding from the sleek wall of a glass and steel skyscraper. Those are likely to come in very handy in the coming months.

NYC Specific Weather - This can be very Different vs TV News Area Weather. Friday is dry but cloudy. Saturday, there's a 30% - 50% chance for a third inch of rain between 8 am and 5 pm. It's the kind of day where an umbrella might (or might not), come in handy. Sunday, there's a 30% - 60% chance of half that amount of rain - but after 7 pm. Temperature highs may hit 90 Friday, falling back to about 80 on Saturday and Sunday. Temperature lows will straddle the high 60's to the low 70's all weekend. The humidity will range from 60% to 80% on both Friday and Sunday, and remain at a steady 70% on Saturday. Winds will range from 5 to 10 mph all weekend. It's definitely a manageable weekend weather-wise - contrary to the billionaire TV News efforts to convince you to stay inside watching TV.

There are a multitude of free and paid live and online events and films covering a variety of subjects including but not limited to LGBTQ, LatinX and Juneteenth to view at various venues around the city. Puerto Rican Day Parades in Sunset Park / Bay Ridge & Bushwick, 86th Street Festival in Bensonhurst & The Brooklyn Film Festival ending

Friday - Sunday, May 30 to June 8, 2025 at various times - the Brooklyn Film Festival - at three live location venues including Windmill Studios at 300 Kingsland Avenue, the Wythe Hotel at 80 Wythe Avenue, and the Round Table Brewery at 245 South First, as well as online. There will be 145 films presented in 42 programs, spanning six categories including Feature, Documentary, Short Documentary and Narrative, Experimental and Animation. Last year [2024] there WAS also a full day of panels and talks but I don't see anything like that for 2025. The primary location for live viewing is at Windmill Studios on 300 Kingsland Avenue [and the other two locations noted above] in Greenpoint Brooklyn. It's the annual Feast of St Anthony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 627 East 187th Street at Arthur Avenue. The triangle of streets along Cresent and Arthur Avenues & 187th Street in the Little Italy section of the Belmont neighborhood in the Bronx will be celebrating the Feast of St. Anthony with a street fair with rides, games, raffles, food and entertainment every night. Officially the street fair is being held along East 187th street from Arthur to Beaumont Avenue, and along Crescent from Cambreleng to Belmont Avenue. The photo above or at right shows a view that no longer exists in Sunnyside Queens. The new, boxy, glass and steel skyscrapers in Long Island City, have replaced it.

NYC Specific Weather can be very Different than TV News Area Weather. Friday there's a small chance [< 20%] of a small amount [.15 inch] of rain between 9 am - 3 pm. Saturday there's a 60% - 80% chance of up to a half inch of rain between 6 am and 6 pm, but most of the rain will have fallen by lunchtime or within a couple / few hours thereafter, so late afternoon and the evening should be workable. On Sunday it will be cloudy, but generally dry. The temperature highs will be around 80 on Friday, falling back to the mid 60's the rest of the weekend. Temperature lows will be in the low to mid 60's all weekend. The humidity will range from 50% to 60% on Friday rising to between 70% and 80% the rest of the weekend. Winds will be about 5 mph Friday, 10 mph Saturday and range from 5 to 10 mph on Sunday. It's a manageable weekend weather-wise, with Saturday likely requiring an umbrella during the day.

This particular protest is focused on trying to make sure Prince Andrew Cuomo doesn't get elected as the next NYC Mayor, so candidates Mamdami, Lander and Blake will be speaking alongside Cynthia Nixon, Lindsey Boylan and Liz Krueger.

Presented together, their works showcase a range of potentials present in gaming as a mass medium–education, entertainment, escape, world building–and through modding and aesthetic interventions, the ability to also hijack meaning.

Spring began Thursday, March 20, 2025, which is also the Spring Equinox, when the day is 12 hours long - half daylight and half dark. The Summer Solstice arrived Friday, June 20, 2025 which will be the longest day of this year as quantified above.

NYC Weather - Note NYC Specific Weather can be very Different than TV News Area Weather. The temperature highs will rise from the mid 80's on Friday, to the high 80's on Saturday to the mid to high 90's on Sunday. The temperature lows will rise from the high 60's Friday, to the low 70's on Saturday and then to the high 70's on Sunday. The winds will range from 5 - 10 mph on Friday and Sunday and from 2 - 3 mph on Saturday. It will be partly cloudy, but no rain is in the forecast. The humidity will fall from 40% - 80% on Friday, to 40% to 70% on Saturday, to 40% to 65% on Sunday. TV Weather, once again seems to be hyperventillating 'how bad the weather' is going to be this weekend, when it actually looks somewhere between pretty good and very manageable. Enjoy.

Sunrise 5.26 am. Sunset 8.31 pm. Daylight Savings Time. We're getting 15 hours & 5 minutes of daylight or one minute less of sunlight than we were getting the weekend of the Summer Solstice, on June 20, 2025. The Summer Solstice is the longest day of this year, providing 15 hours and 6 minutes of sunlight in NYC.

The photo above or at right was taken a number of years back at the Pride Parade in Manhattan. It was a warm day, so folks dressed down to beat the heat.

NYC Weather - Note NYC Specific Weather can be very Different than TV News Area Weather. Posted late Saturday 6.28.25. The temperature highs were in the low 80's Saturday and will rise to the mid 90's on Sunday. The temperature lows will rise from the low 60's on Saturday to the mid 70's on Sunday. There's a bit of rain coming late Saturday, ending by 3 am Sunday. The humidity will be in the 90% range for most of Saturday, falling to 40% by mid afternoon Sunday, before rising again to the mid 70% by Monday. The winds will be 3 to 7 mph all weekend.

Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm - 33rd Annual Dyke Protest March - meets / begins at Bryant Park between 5th & 6th Avenues and between 40th and 42nd Streets and then marches down to Washington Square. Be advsied this is not a parade - it's a protest march - so you have to bring your own costumes, signs and banners. This years theme is Dykes Say No to Fascism. Sunday, June 29, 2025 between 11 am to 3 pm - Gay Pride Parade - The parade begins at 12 noon at Madison Square Park at 25th Street & Fifth Avenue, marches down 5th Avenue toward Washington Square, turns west at 8th Street, continues onto Christopher Street, then turns north on 7th Avenue, ending at 15th Street, where the parade ends / disperses. Sunday, June 29, 2025 between 11 am to 6+ pm - PrideFest - I couldn't CONFIRM the location for this year [2025], but they say somewhere near Union Square Park & Astor Plaza. In prior years like in 2023, it was held along 4th Avenue between 8th and 13th streets in the Village. The fair includes entertainment, food and wellness booths. Sunday, June 29, 2025 _ from 10 am to 2 pm - American Independence Day Parade. The event begins at 10 am with a mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 526 59th Street. The parade assembles between 5th & 6th Avenues before stepping off at 59th Street at 11.30 am. The parade marches north along 5th Avenue ending at 43rd Street. Following the parade there will be a barbeque hosted by the parishioners of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church at 702 48th Street in tandem with the Knights of Columbus.
