NYC Weather. The temperature highs will be in the low to mid 60's, while the temperature lows will be in the high 40's on Friday, low 50's on Saturday and the high 50's on Sunday. There's a 50% - 90% chance of about a third of an inch of rain on Sunday, beginning about 2 pm. Winds will be about 5 mph on Friday and Saturday, rising to about 10 mph on Sunday. The humidity will rise from 50% - 65% on Friday, to 55% - 75% on Saturday and to 75% - 90% on Sunday.

The photo at right was taken at a Halloween event in NYC in a prior year. This year a number of organizations have kicked off the Halloween festivities a bit early, with some starting this weekend, some happening throughout the coming week, and many, many more happening over next / Halloween weekend.

Things To Do This Weekend in Manhattan NYC

On Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 11 am to 5 pm - Treats in the Streets - is an event filled day of activities in the West Village generally designed for kids by the Meatpacking Business Improvement District. The day includes live music, tarot card readings, a couple of hours of drag queen story telling, and the annual Doggie Costume Contest. At Hudson River Park & 14th Street Park and the Gansevort Plaza at Little West 12th and 13th Streets in the West Village. See link above for further details.

Note that the Harlem Meer Floating Pumpkin Flotilla in Central Park and related events are happening on Wednesday & Thursday, October 26 & 27, 2022 from 4 - 7 pm. There's also a lecture on Witchcraft in NY, followed by a Halloween Trivia Contest at the NY Historical Society on the Upper West Side on Thursday, October 27, 2022 beginning at 6 pm & 8.30 pm respectively.

Wednesday thru Saturday, October 26 - 29 2022 from 6.30 to 10 pm - 50 minute Haunted House Candlelight Tours at The Merchants House Museum that run every half hour. They describe them as follows: " ... by flickering candlelight to hear chilling – and true – tales of decades of otherworldly activity in the house, the results of years of paranormal investigations – and the latest stunning scientific findings. The Tredwell family lived at 29 East 4th Street for nearly 100 years, and at least eight people died in the house. Reports of strange and inexplicable occurrences have been widespread since Gertrude, the last surviving Tredwell, died in 1933 ..."


Things To Do This Weekend in Queens NYC

On Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 12 noon to 5 pm - Queens Halloween / Harvest Events at King Manor in Jamaica. A fall celebration which they describe as follows: " ... This year, we have collaborated with Queens Fiber Arts to provide a festival with dozens of vendors, in addition to a pumpkin patch (Queens County Farm) and rum tasting with the historic Neir’s Tavern ... " The event also includes games, arts & crafts and cider. On Jamaica Avenue and 153rd Street in Jamaica Queens NYC. Free.

On Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1 to 3.30 pm Astoria Kids Halloween - Batty over Halloween Celebration. The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition is hosting an event which they describe as follows: " ... arts and crafts, face painting, stilt walkers, balloon artists, performances, and more ... ". On the great lawn in Astoria Park where there's an outdoor party.

Thursday, October 27, 2022 beginning at 6.30 pm the Culture Lab / Plaxall Gallery are hosting an Inaugural Fall Festival. There will be live performances, food and drinks with the proceeds going to support the Culture Lab. Admission. $135. Culture Lab is located next to the Plaxall Gallery at 5-25 46th Avenue in Long Island City.

 

Things To Do This Weekend in Brooklyn NYC

On Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 11 am - 4 pm - Brooklyn Bridge Park hosts a Harvest Festival which includes a full day of family fun with participation by between one and two dozen local arts, cultural, community and culinary organizations. They have special events every hour or so and the following activities going on throughout the day including: " ... Arts & Activity Stations with Our Partners, Lawn Games with YMCA, Pumpkin Patch & Decorating, Live Animal Station by Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy Educators, Coffee, cider, and pastries for purchase by Flux Coffee Roaster and Sweetly Brooklyn, Book Giveaway by Brooklyn Book Bodega, and .... a Raffle ... Collect stamps on your passport from different stations around the Pier. Once you have six, visit the Welcome Tent to fill out a raffle ticket...". The Brooklyn Bridge Park is located along the East River beginning just north of the Manhattan Bridge down to Atlantic Avenue. It's eastern border is the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, so there are limited entrances from the Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo neighborhoods. The Harborview Lawn may be accessed by crossing over the BQE at Middaugh Street in Brooklyn Heights. Free.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, October 21 - 23, 2022 from 12 noon - 4 pm on Friday, & from 12 noon - 8 pm Saturday & Sunday - Live Circus at MCU Park. The amusement park is open from 12 noon to 10 pm. Ticket prices into Luna Park are $30 / $51 based on height, for folks under 4 feet height and those over four feet high, respectively. At Maimonides Stadium at 1904 Surf Avenue. Halloween parties at Luna Park in the Coney Island neighborhood of Brooklyn.

 

Things To Do This Weekend in the Bronx NYC

On Saturday, October 22, 2022 beginning at 12 noon the 37th Annual South Bronx Halloween Parade & Party in Longwood / Foxhurst Neighborhoods of Bronx begins. The parade is organized by Community Board 2 and begins at Westchester & Southern Blvd, marching south along Southern Blvd, turning right on Intervale and ending at Dawson at the Bill Rainey Park in the Foxhurst / Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx. The parade and after event includes candy giveaways, entertainment and costume prizes. It's still all free and all are welcome.

On Saturdays & Sundays, October 1 - 30, 2022 from 10 am - 5 pm the Bronx Zoo operates several Halloween rides / events for the month leading up to and a bit after Halloween. They may cost a small additional fee [$4 - $6] over and above the main entrance ticket. Bronx Halloween events for kids on the weekends included Bootoberfest [at the beer garden], magic shows, an extinct animal graveyard, costume parades, a corn maze, pumpkin carving, a candy trail, skeletons and bones and a wildlife theater. Admission $42 / $37 / $32 and kids under age 2 are free. Advance purchase of tickets required. The Bronx Zoo is located at 2300 Southern Blvd near the Bronx neighborhoods of Belmont.

On Saturday & Sunday, October 22 & 23, 2022 from 11 am to 4 pm - NY Botanical Garden hosts a Pumpkin Parade & Halloween Weekend. From 11 am to 2 pm Materials for the Arts helps kids get ready for the parade. They describe this event as follows: " ... Some of the country’s largest gourds are on hand for a pumpkin party unlike any other! Get crafty with wands and shakers ahead of our Pumpkin Parade, and dress up in your best Halloween outfit as you walk down Garden Way with larger-than-life skeletons and acrobats. Then explore enormous pumpkins from the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth—some weighing in at over a ton—along with live pumpkin carving from artist Adam Bierton, winner of Food Network’s Halloween Wars ..." Admission is $15 for kids, $28 students & $30 for adults. For NYC residents there's a grounds access pass option that costs $15 / $7 / $4. Kids age two and under are free. The New York Botanical Gardens at 2900 Southern Blvd near the Bronx neighborhoods of Belmont, Norwood & Pelham Parkway.

 

Things To Do This Weekend on Staten Island NYC

Fridays, October 21, 2022 at 8 pm, 9 pm & 10 pm the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden hosts a one hour Spookly Snug Harbor Tour that departs each hour on Friday nights in October. Here's what they tell us about the flashlight tours: " ... Journey back in time to learn about murder, mayhem, and hauntings at Snug Harbor. Visit the final resting place of Captain Robert Randall, whose wealth willed Snug Harbor into existence, and ponder the mystery of Chaplain Quinn’s murder, a crime that gripped the nation. Learn about the 19th century disaster that rattled the harbor’s buildings and the unlikely reason its sole survivor escaped, and discover a disappearance that sent the institution into a frenzy ...". Admission is $25 / $20 for the one hour tours. At Chapel and Gazebo Roads at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center at 1000 Richmond Terrace in the Randall Manor neighborhood on the north shore of Staten Island.

On Friday, Saturday & Sunday October 21, 22, 23, 2022 from 7 - 8.30 pm Snug Harbor hosts Scary Stories & S'Mores. Here's what they tell us about the event: "... Entertain both your mind and taste buds with scary stories and s’mores! Join our storytelling circle for tales of ghosts, goblins and ghouls, as you enjoy s’mores and sip hot cocoa. Wear a costume and some courage as performer Jack Dabdoub gets you in the Halloween spirit ...". This family event is recommended for families with children aged 7 – 11 years old, and not recommended for children under 6 years.Admission $15 / $12. At the compost demo site next to the Heritage Farm in the Snug Harbor complex at 1000 Richmond Terrace in the Randall Manor neighborhood on the north shore of Staten Island.
