Sunrise 6.53 am. Sunset 6.36 pm. Daylight Savings Time. We're getting 11 hours & 42 minutes of daylight or three hours and 24 minutes less of sunlight than we were getting the weekend of the Summer Solstice, on June 20, 2025. The Summer Solstice is the longest day of this year, providing 15 hours and 6 minutes of sunlight in NYC.

The photo above or at right, was taken on Sunday at the Tour de Bronx Bike Ride on the Grand Concourse at 161st Street just outside of the Bronx Borough Hall. About 4,000 cyclists signed up for the event, and based on what I saw on a beautiful, warm, sunny, dry morning, most of them showed up for the ride.

NYC Specific Weather - This can be very Different than TV News TriState Weather. Looks like a great weather weekend. No rain. The temperatures highs will be in the mid 70's Friday, rising to the low 80's on Saturday and Sunday. The temperature lows will be in the high 50's on Friday and the mid 60's on Saturday and Sunday. The winds will be a pretty steady 5 mph all weekend. And the humidity will swing wildly again this weekend, from about 95% to 45% Friday, and from 80% to 45% on Saturday and Sunday. The humidity rises when it's dark out, peaking around daybreak, and then falling during the day, bottoming between 3 and 5 pm.

Saturday Morning Edition @ 10.15 am. Mostly done, with a bit of clean up to do on some of the attendant pages. We'll have it finished by about noon'ish. It's another big, fun filled weekend. Please share with family & friends. Have a good weekend.

Friday & Saturday, October 3 & 4, 2025 from 10 am to 10 pm - Durga Puja in Times Square - This festival is celebrated from September 26 - October 5, 2025 at various locations throughout NYC, but most notably in the Woodside, Jackson Heights, Jamaica and Richmond Hill neighborhoods in Queens. Durga Puja celebrates the goddess Durga, who is a motherhood figure representing the victory of good over evil. The celebrations, which cover a week of activity, are also something of a Hindu harvest festival.   • IN THE PAST - the parade began along 2nd Avenue beginning at East 54th Street ending at East 44th Street. There's usually an after parade celebration in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza at 2nd Avenue and East 46th Street. The Nigerian parade also celebrates 40 African nations decades of independence. They moved the parade to Madison Avenue in 2024 and changed the time

Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 10 am to 6 pm - Korean Parade & Festival. The parade runs from 12 noon to 2 pm, beginning along 6th Avenue at 38th Street and marching down to 27th Street. The festival runs from 11 am - 6 pm along 32nd Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue [aka Koreatown]. There will be food, beverages, merchandise and cultural performances. Sunday, October 5, 2025 beginning at 12.30 pm - The 88th Annual Pulaski Day Parade - begins at 39th Street and marches up 5th Avenue to 54th Street. There's a mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Avenue at 50th Street at 9 am preceding the parade, followed by a breakfast at 10.15 am at 3 West Club. Thursday - Sunday, October 9 to 12, 2025 from 10 am to 7 pm daily except Sunday when it ends at 5 pm - Comic Con returns to the Javits in Manhattan. At the Javits Center at 655 West 34th / 36th Street at 11th Avenue in West Midtown. Comic Con is a convention of fans of comic book characters and has morphed to include movie characters. The photo above or at right, was taken this week in one of the outer boroughs. It would seem the Halloween celebrations have begun. Halloween started in Ireland, way back when, as a harvest festival. It's definitely one of the more enthralling holidays, as is Thanksgiving - but in a different way.

In the photo above or at right, you can see some two women out and about at the Atlantic Avenue Antic street fair in Brooklyn this Sunday. It's one of the more popular outdoor events, and this year was no exception. The weather made if feel like the summer had returned, as you can see by how folks are dressed.

Greenpoint _ Friday, September 26 to Sunday October 5, 2025 [excluding Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday] - Zum Schneider Fest - at 12 Franklin Street [the Northern Territory] in Greenpoint Brooklyn. The times are generally from 5 - 10 pm weekdays, Sunday from 12 noon - 8 pm, and on Saturday there are two seatings from 12 noon - 4.45 pm and from 5.15 - 10 pm. This is a traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest which for years had been held in Manhattan along the East River at 23rd Street. It moved to Brooklyn in 2022 and is hosted by an authentic Bavarian who brings a lot of personality, as well as food, drink and culture to the event. This Brooklyn Street Fair is billed as the largest and oldest street festival in Brooklyn and has ethnic food, live entertainment and shopping.
