NYC Weather. The temperature highs will be in the mid to high 70's and the temperature lows will be around 60. No rain is in the forecast.

We're still working on the open calls and the community & small business grants page, as well as updating the events calendars. It's a focus of ours over the next couple of weeks, so you should see some good improvement by late May / early June.

Mayor Adams & The People's Money

This week the Mayor announced that a participatory budgeting effort is underway. Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 26, 27, 28, 2023 - the Lower East Side Festival for the Arts runs Friday through Sunday at the Theater for the New City at 155 First Avenue between East 9th & 10th Streets on 1st Avenue in the East Village. The event runs from 6 pm - 1 am Friday, on Saturday there's an outside cultural street fair from 12 noon to 6 pm, in tandem and also followed by theater from 1 pm - 12 midnight, and on Sunday from 6 pm - 12 midnight. Numerous performances by many of the 200 local artists, actors, musicians, dancers and performers associated with the theater. Free admission, donations welcome. Sunday, May 28, 2023 from 12 noon to 5 pm - The 36th Annual Losaida Festival - Along Avenue C between 6th and 12th streets on the Lower East Side. The parade proceeds down to Marine Avenue, up to 4th Avenue, then over to John Paul Jones Park for their memorial service which includes bag pipes, flag raising and wreath laying by Veteran Service Organizations. Annual 152nd Street Cultural Festival / which is the Official National Puerto Rican Day Parade Street Festival - Along 152nd Street between [Prospect & Westchester Ave] Jackson & Tinton in the Longwood / Melrose neighborhoods of the Bronx. It's one of the largest Puerto Rican street festivals in NYC. The National Puerto Rican Day Parade is held a week later in Manhattan.

NYC Weather. The temperature highs will be in the mid 60's on Friday and Saturday, rising to about 80 on Sunday. The temperature lows will be around 60 all weekend. The humidity will rise from 50% on Friday to 80% on Saturday, before falling back to 50% on Sunday. Winds will be 10 - 15 mph on Friday, falling to 5 - 10 mph for the rest of the weekend. There's a 65% chance of some rain [a 1/4 inch] before 3 pm on Saturday.

 

There are also a few more events to add, but this is a solid first pass of the major events this weekend, allowing that there are a couple of things that need updating for Queens.

Last year the NYC X Design program included an art tour in LIC Queens on Friday and there's plenty more at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan.

Includes Ukranian shopping, food and entertainment with the proceeds going to St. George Academy, which is a Ukrainian school. Saturday, May 20, 2023 the Taste of Tribeca runs from 11.30 am - 3 pm along Duane Street between Greenwich and Hudson Streets in Tribeca. Sometimes up to 80 Tribeca [and nearby] food and beverage vendors come out to serve the public. Note that this is a food festival not a street fair per se. Proceeds benefit PS 150 and PS 234. Saturday, May 20, 2023 the Dance Parade begins at 12 noon at 20th Street and Broadway. It marches down along Broadway and University to Washington Square Park where it turns [left] east on 8th Street and heads into Tompkins Square Park in the East Village. Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 10 am - 4 pm - The Great Staten Island Lighthouse Hunt. Begins at either the Postcards, which is the name of the Staten Island 911 Memorial, on Bank Street in St. George along the waterfront just west of the SI Ferry, or at the Conference House in Tottenville. The cost is $35 per carload or $15 per bicycle / motorcycle. Teams of three are recommended to drive, navigate and shoot photos.
