Generally good weather, with the temperature highs around 70 on Friday, and near 80 for the rest of the weekend. The temperature lows will be in the 50's Friday, rising to 60 on Saturday and the high 60's on Sunday. No rain is in the forecast for the rest of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but returning on Monday. Humidity will range between the mid 50% to the low 70% for the rest of Friday and Saturday, and then the range will narrow to the mid 60's to mid 70's on Sunday. The winds will be 5 - 10 mph. All in all a pretty nice Fall weekend.

Brooklyn Things To Do This Weekend

Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 12 noon - 4.30 pm - Blocktoberfest. At the Brooklyn Navy Yard at 141 Flushing Avenue in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn. Tickets $10 - $75 at eventbrite. CoVid protocols are in effect.

Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 12 noon - 6 pm. 46th Annual Atlantic Antic Festival / Boerum Place North. Along Atlantic Avenue between 4th Avenue and the waterfront [historically it also stretched along Hicks Street and Boerum Place between Atlantic Avenue and State Street]. Approximately 500 food, drink and shopping vendors along with 11 stages of live entertainment. Brooklyn street fairs in Boerum Hill. It's billed as the oldest and largest street festival in Brooklyn.

Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 10 am - 6 pm. 3rd Avenue Festival. Along 3rd Avenue between Bayridge Avenue and 94th Street.

 

Bronx Things To Do This Weekend

Sunday, October 2, 2021 from 12 noon - 3 pm - Randall's Island Park Alliance Festival - Near Fields 62 - 63 in Randall's Island, just north of Ward's Meadow on the southeast tip of the island. Cider, cookies, doughnuts, dance class, pumpkin decorating, Latin dance class and live music. The Randall's Island Park Alliance is hosting a harvest celebration. Free.

FORDHAM _ October 2021 EVERY Saturday from about 4 - 10 pm - Bronx Night Market - in Fordham Plaza at East Fordham Road (189th Street) and Third Avenue across from the Metro North Railway Station. This is mostly a market with 35 food vendors in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx.

BELMONT - October 2021 EVERY weekend from 6pm to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1pm to 9pm on Sundays - Piazza di Belmont - Outdoor dining on Arthur Avenue which will be closed to vehicular traffic from East 188th Street to Crescent Avenue during the above mentioned times.

 

Staten Island Things To Do This Weekend

Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 1 pm - 2 - 4 pm - Placed Notes Opus II. At the Staten Island Museum at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center in the Randall Manor neighborhood. Tickets are free, but CoVid guidelines remain in effect.

The festival includes live bands, local vendors of arts & crafts, food and programs for adults & kids. $3 suggested donation & $7 with chowder sampling. The temperature lows will be in the low to mid 60's all weekend. Winds will be 5 - 10 mph all weekend, most days nearer to 10 mph. Humidity will range from 70% - 80% Friday and Saturday and from 80% - 90% on Sunday and Monday. There's a 15% - 20% chance of a scant bit of rain on Saturday and Monday, and a 50% chance, predominantly in the afternoon on Sunday of about a third of an inch of rain.

The folks in the photo were walking through the street market at Rockefeller Center a couple of weeks ago. The market continues into the fall.

It's an annual festival when folks dress up as comic book / animated characters and enter the Javits where all things animated / comic book related are sold. Tickets $70.

Begins at 61st Street and 18th Avenue [aka Cristoforo Columbo Blvd] following a 10.30 am Mass at St. Athanasius Church at 2154 61st Street in Bensonhurst / Mapleton. Friday - Monday, October 8 - 11, 2021 from 6 pm - 11 pm Fri, Saturday 12 noon - 11 pm, Sunday 12 noon - 9 pm, Monday 12 noon - 5 pm - Italian Festival at the Mount. At Mount Loretto at 6481 Hylan Blvd in the Charleston neighborhood of Staten Island [near Prince's Bay & Pleasant Plains]. The event includes food, beer, rides, culture and entertainment. This replaced the Columbus Day Parade celebration in New Dorp starting in 2014. Admission $5 Adults / Kids free.

The temperature lows will be in the low 60's Friday, dropping to the low 50's for Saturday and Sunday. Humidity will range between 60% - 75% on Friday and Saturday, dropping to about 60% on Sunday. Winds will be about 5 - 10 mph Friday, rising to 10 - 15 on Saturday and then dropping again to about 10 mph Sunday. About a quarter inch of rain is expected between 4 - 10 pm Saturday.

 

Manhattan Things To Do This Weekend

The 14th Annual Wine & Food Festival returns to Manhattan through Sunday. Admission for food and drink tastings begin at $95. A couple of suggestions are the Barcardi tasting walk around on Saturday beginning around noon in the Flatiron District and the Sunday walk around food tasting in Hudson River Park, also beginning at noon. www.nycwff.org. The proceeds go to God's Love We Deliver which provides meals to the less fortunate.

SOUTH ST SEAPORT _ Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 12 noon - 3 pm - 11th Annual Taste of the Seaport - At Piers 16 & 17 along the East River at the South Street Seaport. Entertainment, kids activities and about 40 food & beverage purveyors with proceeds going to arts and enrichment programs at two public elementary schools - PS 343 Peck Slip School & PS 397 Spruce Street School. Last year tickets cost $10 for 5 tastes at www.tasteoftheseaport.org.

 

Queens Things To Do This Weekend

Open House NY comes to all 5 boroughs on Saturday and Sunday. https://ohny.org/

Woodside Festival on Saturday and College Point Fair on Sunday.

Also, the Indian Festival of Lights began with a big street fair in Jackson Heights last Sunday, but the Indian New Year holiday is celebrated, more or less, for the next couple of weeks on 74th Street off Roosevelt Avenue in the commercial district of Jackson Heights.

 

Brooklyn Things To Do This Weekend

There's a Brooklyn Museum Pop Up Market from 11.30 am - 5.30 pm on Sunday, October 17, 2021. The market includes offerings by twenty local artisans / vendors offering artwork, jewelry, fashion, home and apothecary goods. Masks are required. At the Brooklyn Museum Plaza along Eastern Parkway in front of the museum not far from Washington Avenue.

In the photo at right you can see preparations being made to the floor of the Rockefeller skating rink, which opens three weeks from now. It marks the beginning of the holiday season.

All month Pumpkin picking at Decker Farm and Village Ghost Tours at Historic Richmond Town. And Spooky [Historic] Richmond Town begins this weekend through next Saturday.

The Zoo Spooktacular begins this weekend at the Staten Island Zoo.

Sea to Shining Sea. There's a presentation on Sunday from 2 - 4 pm of American lighthouses, including from our area, at the Lighthouse Museum at 200 The Promenade in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island.

Things To Do This Weekend Manhattan

Metropolitan Museum of Art Cantor Roof Garden exhibit closes on Sunday, October 31st. Open during museum hours, it's a nice place to spend some outdoor time when the weather is pleasant.

Sunday through Tuesday, October 24 - 26, 2021 the JA New York Jewelry Show is running at the Javits from 10 am - 6 pm daily. I believe it's free to attend, but you should register at their website and CoVid protocols remain in effect.

JAMAICA _ Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 11 am - 4 pm - Fall Harvest Festival - At King Manor Museum at Jamaica Avenue and 153rd Street in Jamaica. Arts, crafts, small business bazaar, composting, readings and poetry. Not a street fair per se, but rather an historic / cultural / shopping festival.

South Bronx Halloween Parade & Party - Saturday, October 23, 2021 beginning at 12 noon

A Halloween parade and party for all ages begins at Simpson Street between 163rd Street and Westchester Avenue in the Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx. They have prizes for kids of various age categories, including 'kids' over 55. There will be candy giveaways and entertainment and costume prizes. And it's free. Things To Do This Weekend Staten Island

On Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 7 pm and 11 am to 6 pm respectively, there's the Annual Festa & Motori d'Italia at Casa Belvedere in the Silver Lake neighborhood near Grymes Hill on Staten Island. The event includes a classic car show, live entertainment, Italian food and drink and luxurious, classic and performance Italian autos on the lawn. Admission $10. Kids under 12 free.

The temperature highs will be in the low 60's all weekend, the temperature lows will be in the low to mid 50's all weekend. Rain sweeps in between 6 - 8 pm tonight and remains intermittently until about 3 am Sunday morning. About an inch of rain in total is expected. Thus the humidity will be between 80% and 90% on Saturday, and between 70% - 80% on Friday and Sunday. It will be windy on Friday with winds at 15 - 20 mph, dropping to 5 - 10 mph the rest of the weekend.

So, all in all, while not a good Halloween Weekend weather forecast, it's not a bad Halloween Day forecast.

 

Things to do in Manhattan on Halloween Weekend 2021

On Friday, October 29, 2021 beginning at 6 pm the Museum of the City of New York at 1220 5th Avenue on the UES is hosting a Halloween party that includes a DJ and dance on the south terrace, a puppet performance by Teatro SEA, a Poets' Cafe of readings, a 'Thriller' drag performance and an exciting costumed audience. Free with museum admission. Museum admission is $20 for adults and $14 for Seniors (65+) and ages 19 & below enter free. On Friday, October 29, 2021 there's a Hornblower Haunted Yacht Halloween Dance Cruise departing from Pier 15 at 78 South Street Seaport - Boarding 9.30 pm, departing at 10.30 pm, returning 2 am. There will also be some pumpkin decorating related events and local retailers will be out and about. On Saturday, October 30, 2021 beginning at 11.30 pm there's the Devil's Playground / Gay Halloween at Webster Hall at 125 East 11th Street off 4th Avenue in the East Village. Tickets $55 / $65 / $75. While on Sunday, October 31, 2021 beginning at 8 pm there's the 'Official Halloween Parade After Party'. Following renovations the last couple of years, Webster Hall returns to Halloween hosting with their famous themed East Village Halloween Party which they call Webster HELL. In the past their party included a 'parade' before midnight, a virgin sacrifice at midnight, and a generously prized costume contest. While the party is confirmed, the details for this year have not been. The building was landmarked in 2008. On Sunday, October 31, 2021 the 48th Annual Village Halloween Parade NYC. The NYC Halloween Parade runs through the West Village neighborhood for three to four hours, beginning at 7 pm, with the official end time at 10.30 pm. We've heard that there are over 35 bands and an innumerable showing of creative costumes. Things to do in Queens on Halloween Weekend 2021

The Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden is hosting the BHBG Halloween Party at 2919 24th Avenue in Astoria on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 9 pm to 2 am, is hosting an Astoria Halloween party they're calling the Bohemian Hell & Beer Garden Halloween Party & Silent Disco. They will have live DJ's spinning the tunes all night. You'll be provided with a headset and glow in the dark gear. The headset must be returned or you lose $100 which will be charged to your debit or credit card. Also, if the event is held inside due to weather, you will need to show proof of vaccination. Then on Saturday, October 30, 2021 - two shows where doors open at 7 pm and 10.30 pm with the shows starting a half hour after doors open. These performances are entitled Tinder Live with Lane Moore and Be Cute Halloween Bash. /They are also music and dance. Tickets are $18 / $20 and $25 / $30 respectively. And lastly, on Sunday, October 31, 2021 - doors open at 7 pm & Karaoke begins followed by the Rocky Horror Film begins at 9.45 pm. The walk takes about two hours and is described as follows, "... wander along the Cemetery's winding paths and have chance encounters with musicians, performers, moving images, and storytellers. On Saturday, October 30, 2021 with parade beginnning at 12 noon / Party runs from 10 am - 3 pm - There's a Children's Halloween Parade & Spooktacular Party Polish Slavic Center in the Greenpoint Neighborhood of Brooklyn. The free parade circles back around to the Polish Slavic Center in Greenpoint. In the past tickets were $5 / $10 for accompanying adult, and for online vs at door tickets were $20 and $30 per child, respectively. Proceeds go to the local scout troop. Location. The Polish Slavic Center is at 176 Java Street, but this event is being held outdoors at 177 Kent Street. It seems the Polish Slavic Center has two entrances and cuts through the entire width of the block, so the Kent Street location is essentially at the back door. On Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 11 am - 2 pm [parade participation registration begins at 10.30 am] - there's the 11th Annual Kids' Halloween Party & Parade in Coney Island at the Cyclones home at Maimonides Stadium at 1904 Surf Avenue at MCU Park. It includes face painting, costumes, magic shows and costumes and was organized by the Alliance for Coney Island the Luna Park NYC amusement park. Admission. The parade is FREE, but the amusement park is not. However, this year the first 1,200 kids ages 3 - 14 accompanied by an adult 18 and older will be let into Luna Park for two hours for free. The amusement park is open from 12 noon to 10 pm. Things to do in the Bronx on Halloween Weekend 2021

On Friday, October 29, 2021 beginning at 7 pm there is the Annual Bronx Rising! Halloween event at the Bronx Music Heritage Center [BMHC] Lab at 1303 Louis Niñé Blvd in the Foxhurst neighborhood of the Bronx. This year the organization celebrates Halloween with as screening of Wolfeen. The film was made in the Bronx and Bobby Sanabria contributed much of the jazzy sound track. It's a costumed event. Pre-pandemic they described the event as "Spirits and other creatures make their appearance as visitors make their way through the Bartow-Pell mansion and grounds on a 30 minute guided tour." Halloween treats and goodies will be available for purchase. In 2017 this event is produced in partnership with the City Island Theater Group but no mention this year. I didn't see a price but it's either free or more likely, similar to what it cost in 2019 or a bit more which was $10 and it was not recommended for children under 13. On Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 12 noon - 4 pm - there's a family-friendly Bronx Halloween Parade & Kids Party in Throgs Neck. The party includes rides, snacks, music and a costume party. The parade begins at St Frances de Chantal on Harding Avenue at Throgs Neck Blvd. They march down to East Tremont Avenue, then onto Sampson Avenue, up the Cross Bronx service road and back to Throgs Neck Blvd where there will be a party between Harding and Schurz Avenue by the Little League field. On Saturdays & Sundays, October 2 - 31, 2021 - the Bronx Zoo at 2300 Southern Blvd near the Bronx neighborhoods of Belmont, Norwood, Morris Park & Pelham Parkway operates several Halloween rides / events for the month leading up to and a bit after Halloween. They may cost a small additional fee [$4 - $6] over and above the main entrance ticket. Pre-pandemic Bronx Halloween events including Bootoberfest [at the beer garden], magic shows, an extinct animal graveyard, costume parades, a corn maze, pumpkin carving, a candy trail, skeletons and bones and a wildlife theater. This Halloween event is near the Belmont, West Farms, Morris Park & Norwood neighborhoods of the Bronx. General Admission is $20 / $30 and kids under age 2 are free.
