Weather. The temperature highs will be around 50 through the weekend and the temperature lows will be around 40. There's a 50 - 80% chance of rain on Sunday between 7 am and 3 pm, otherwise the rest of the weekend should be rain free. Winds will be 15 - 20 mph on Friday, falling to 5 - 10 mph for the rest of the weekend. The humidity will be 60% on Friday, falling to 40% - 50% for the rest of the weekend.
The photo at right was taken on Friday, showing the trees budding what seems almost a month early. The old saying "April showers bring May flowers" may have to be revised to account for climate change.
Things to do in Manhattan This Weekend
The April Fools Parade begins at an undisclosed time [usually it begins at 12 noon or 1 pm] at 59th Street and 5th Avenue and marches down 5th Avenue to Washington Square Park. The King of Fools Award will be given out to a likely absent Vladimir Putin. The event organizer, Joey Skaggs, informs us that this is the 37th year of the parade. For details see www.joeyskaggs.com, where you can also download a mask to wear at the parade and awards ceremony.
The masks at right are being provided to marchers in the April Fools Parade this year. Every year the parade commemorates the 'King of Fools' of the past year. This year the winner is the dictator 'President' of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

The Museum of the Moving Image is hosting an exhibit that began December 18, 2021 and runs through May 15, 2022 entitled Deepfake: Unstable Evidence on Screen. The exhibit explores how fact becomes distorted and fictionalized via the moving image screen. At the centerpiece of it all is the distortion of the Apollo 11 moon mission. The museum is open Friday from 2 - 8 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon - 6 pm. For details and tickets see www.movingimage.us. Admission $15 / $11 / $9.
See Rachel Wren's [of LIC] art on exhibit in Manhattan until April 2nd, above.
In the photo at right you see a multitude of screens with images and video, some of which are real and some of which are fake. We no longer live in the 'Information Age', but rather the 'Disinformation Age' and it's not just the internet, as the TV and newspaper outlets of Australian born Oligarch Rupert Murdoch, have been manipulating images and stories - and thus how their audiences view people, issues, institutions and pols. Murdoch appears to have been manipulating his audiences for decades for propaganda profits. Any legislation that clamps down on the fakes news of the internet also needs to be applied to other mediums - particularly TV - which attracts the highest number of low information and ignorant voters.
On Sunday there's the Queens Blvd Forest Hills Festival from 10 am - 6 pm, along Queens Blvd from 70th Road to Yellowstone Blvd.

In the photo at right are some of the participants of the last NYC St. Patrick's Parade held in NYC last Sunday in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn. The parade caught me by surprise, because it's a very big / long one and well worth the trip.
