things to do nyc manhattan brooklyn queens bronx staten island nyc eventsNYC Weather Forecast as of 9.27.24. Sunrise 6.49 am & Sunset at 6.43 pm. There's a 60% chance of a quarter inch of rain on Saturday between 12 noon and 7 pm. Both Friday and Sunday [with the possible exception of early morning before 7 am] should be rain-free. The temperature highs will be in the low 70's all weekend, while the temperature lows will range from the high to low 60's, also all weekend. The winds will range from 7 - 12 mph all weekend, while the humidity will be in the 70's all weekend. A pretty stable forecast, with the exception of that spot of rain Saturday afternoon / early evening.

The photo above / at right, was taken at a Zum Schneider festival in a prior year. The festival returns to Brooklyn this weekend.

Friday FINAL Edition at 4.45 pm. This is almost done or done. Looks like a good / manageable Fall weekend weather-wise, with plenty of fun and interesting things to do. Enjoy.

Things To Do This Weekend in NYC

  • benjamin netanyahu alleged war criminal and mass murderer speaks at UNSeptember 22 - 30, 2024 - The United Nations General Assembly begins. Dignitaries and diplomats will begin convening in earnest Sunday. Already this Friday 9/20/24, various groups that want to be heard, will be protesting the mishandling of their issues by various governments around the world. Road closures along the east side of Midtown, near the U.N. [generally in the low 40's streets], begin as early as Saturday evening at 8 pm, so be prepared for extra traffic jams in Manhattan.
    • This year they seem to have improved their communication effort and the following items are on the week long agenda. On Sunday, Monday, 9/22 & 9/23 they will be discussing sustainable development goals for international trade and development. On Tuesday, 9/24 they will showcase success stories of sustainable development efforts made 'round the world. On Wednesday, 9/25 they are hosting a plenary of sea level rise threats. On Thursday, 9/26 they will discuss anti-microbial resistance and efforts to combat it, as well as how to rid the world of nuclear weapons. On Wednesday thru Saturday, 9/25 - 9/28 & Monday, 9/30 there will be a high level debate about how the world can work together to make sure that nobody is left behind. On Tuesday, 9/24/24 President Joe Biden will address the General Assembly. For details and video links see - UN General Assembly in NYC 2024. https://www.un.org/en/webtv.un.org. For special reports on two of the world's military hotspots see our prior reports - 1) Why are American - not Israeli - taxpayers funding Israel's Expansionist Imperialism and 2) Ukraine Defends Against Russian Imperialism.
    • Alleged war criminal, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, will speak to the United Nations on Friday. There was a rally on Thursday afternoon [see poster], which didn't make sense to me in terms of timing. On Friday evening and through the weekend, watch for biased reporting of Netanyahu's speech by most major American TV outlets. Pay particular attention to what excerpts they show, and the context or lack of context they provide around those excerpts, as well as what they present of the other side of the story, as the Palestinians do not have a country and therefore are not directly represented at the United Nations. Netanyahu and Israel have always portrayed themselves as the victims, but oftentimes it appears as though it is they who are the victimizers. In this most recent flare up, Israel has reportedly decimated over 85% of Gaza, while killing over 41,000 people of whom 67% were women and children, and the Israeli military inflicted life-changing injuries on 22,500 people and counting. Israel has also been making incursions into the West Bank, and now plans a ground offensive in Lebanon. Netanyahu and Israel don't seek peace, because they are not paying for their wars. We are. Or shall I say, Why are we? And in fact Israel actually profits significantly from these wars by making resource and land grabs from its neighbors, including the oil fields in Syria and settlements in Gaza and along the West Bank. Israelis also greatly benefit from having early access to U.S. military technologies, which has enabled Israel to produce more billionaires per capita than the United States [and their billionaires don't have to pay taxes for Israel's wars, while ours do]. Meanwhile our government dishonestly talks about peace, while funding war. This year alone, the U.S. government has taken $20 billion out of American taxpayers' pockets and given it to Israel for their aggressive, seemingly genocidal wars, no strings attached. And since the mid 1940's U.S. taxpayers have given over a quarter trillion dollars [in todays currency] to Israel, which is a small nation with a population of 10 million [which is only 1.5 million larger than NYC], with no strings attached. If the American government really wants peace in the region, all they need to do is start putting their money where their mouth is. That means stop funding Israel's offense, by cutting back aid levels to provide defense only. And, as with Ukraine, put limits on how our aid and weapons may be used. That this hasn't been done so far, is why Netanyahu and the Israeli military dismisses us without a second thought. Israel's offense is an American blindspot because American TV doesn't provide fair and balanced reporting of it. Click this link to learn more about how America is being manipulated by Netanyahu, the Israelis and their TV allies here in the U.S., to provide free funding for Israel's expansionist wars.

Thursday, October 3, 2024 is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. May this coming Jewish New Year of 5785 be a more peaceful and harmonious one than the past year has been.
